Whitby Firewalk_800

Just back from a great weekend in Whitby at the Doomsday bizarre magick gathering. More information soon. In the meantime, by request, here are a couple of pics of the Friday evening Firewalk. I tried broken glass last year, without ill effect, so firewalking was the obvious next step…

The fire-pit reached a temperature of over 1600 degrees Celsius during the preparation but the embers had cooled to between 600 and 700 degrees for our walk. It certainly felt hot, but we survived without a blister.

Firewalking has been practiced by many people and cultures in all parts of the world, with the earliest known reference dating back to Iron Age India – c. 1200 BC. It is often used as a rite of passage, as a test of an individual’s strength and courage (or, possibly, foolhardiness?).

Any suggestions for next year?

  1. How can I order John Gray’s Coin Craft DVD, Extended Poppit, and Poppit Plusses

    • Hi Alexander

I understood that you’d already bought this from one of our US distributors. Just to check. The Vortex Principle package included the Poppit gimmick, and two DVDs. One is the original Coin Craft DVD. The other (Themes and Techniques) goes into further detail on variations and handling techniques. All the moves John uses in the sample routines are explained on the DVDs.

Although we don’t normally sell them separately, as I recall, you ordered an additional Poppit gimmick from us a couple of years ago. 9Full manufacturing details are on the DVD, of course.)

As to extensions to the basic Poppit/Poppit Plus. Again these are explained in detail, with examples, on the DVD. (See ‘The Poppit’ section on the Coin Craft DVD in the Vortex package.) We have never supplied the ‘extended Poppit’ as this needs to be made to fit your trousers. (Full instructions and diagrams on the DVD.) Construction is simple, but if you have any problems I suggest you have a chat with your tailor.

Should you wish to buy another Vortex, they’re still available at £39 plus £5.10 post to USA (total £44.10). Sterling payments via Paypal to russell@magick2go.com.
